When you read this, I’ll most likely be on a plane. I’m on my way to San Diego for the “Big Show” --- San Diego Comic-Con --- and its ensuing delightful madness. It has it all --- huge crowds, comics galore, panels, discussions, meetups with old friends, and the constant feeling that there just isn’t enough time in the day to squeeze everything in…no matter how hard you try. Carol and I went over the schedule of events that we want to attend, and clearly the programming this year is more robust than ever!
Before it all starts up on Wednesday, though, I’m getting in a few days early to rest, relax, and enjoy some quality time with family and friends in San Diego. I wanted to send out a quick newsletter letting you know about some of the latest news and features from GraphicNovelReporter.
I hope I will see a lot of you at Comic-Con. It’s always a fun chance to catch up with people around the industry and see what they’ve been up to over the past year; the excitement surrounding certain books is almost palpable. By the way, as we have done in years past, we have a list of library-and academic-related Comic-Con programming up on GNR. I know this is useful to a lot of our readers and I hope it helps you plan out your convention time accordingly.
I’ll be doing some updates from the con, too, so keep your eyes peeled for those…we'll try to take as many pictures and get as many scoops as we can.
Below to be sure to check out our recap of the American Library Association’s latest conference, new graphic novel discussion guides, and more.
One more thing….we are working on a re-design of GraphicNovelReporter.com that should be live around the end of July. We’ve been quite busy moving over 3 1/2 years of content; it’s like a trip down memory lane.
With that, I’ll wish you safe travels if you are heading west, as well!
Best,
John Hogan (John@bookreporter.com)
