Title: Three Shadows
Author: Cyril Pedrosa
Comment: no words, but the art is so emotive that words would be distracting.

Title: House of Mystery Vol 1 Room and Boredom
Author: Matthew Sturges, Bill Willingham, and Luca Rossi
Comment: When I picked up this graphic novel I was unaware that it took place in the Sandman universe. Well, sorta. Anyway, very good story filled with amusing mini-stories. Can't wait for the next volume.

Title: The Number 73304-23-4153-6-96-8
Author: Thomas Ott
Comment: The Number 73304-23-4153-6-96-8 is told all in pictures. It starts out with the execution (by electrocution) of prisoner #73304-23-4153-6-96-8, whose number – written on a piece of paper – flutters to the ground as his corpse is taken from the room. The man responsible for the electric chair finds it, and begins to see connections between it and everything in his life – the numbers match up. At first the sequence brings him good luck and fortune, and then, after going through the sequence once, his fortunes reverse and the number is tied to everything bad in his life. It ends in the same prison, with this new man in the electric chair. This was very dark and very creepy. I wonder if the connections are all things that the man is imagining. Are they coincidences or is this number really evil? You’ll speculate, too. It’s a fast *read* and you can get through it in about 15 or 20 minutes. But it will probably stick around in your head and haunt you for awhile longer. Drawings are richly textured in black and white, often drawn in sequential panels. The mood of the artwork remains dark throughout – even when the number seems to be lucky and good. And the lack of color makes it seem like you’re looking into the darkest recesses of civilization/humanity, or at its ugly, pale, underbelly.

Title: Houdini
Author: CEL Welsh
Comment: I stumbled onto this book by totally accident. I found a website called campfire.co.in and ordered this book for $6. I thought the product would be very amateur but boy was I wrong. The artwork is simply fantastic and the story was engaging and complex. I've ordered more books from this company and I'm looking forward to receiving them.

Title: Stolen Hearts: The Love of Eros and Psyche
Author: Ryan Foley
Comment: This is a fantastic graphic novel retelling of a legendary tale. It brings to life the mythological story of ancient Greece's hottest couple - Eros and Psyche. Although it's a love story, I didn't feel like I was reading a girly book. The beautiful flow of the text really captured my imagination and kept me turning the pages. As for the awesome illustrations, they complement the writing wonderfully and caused me to pause for thought at exactly the right moments. Overall a great read.

Title: The Good Neighbors: Kin
Author: Holly Black
Comment: I absolutely loved Holly Black's first graphic novel! The faeries were dark and lovely, and the plot had a mystery that drew me in. It ended in a cliffhanger, so I am eagerly anticipating the sequel. My only problem with it is that I wish it had been a little longer.
