Next week's New York Times bestseller list is out, and David Small's incredible memoir Stitches is making its debut at the top. That's an impressive splash to make, and David (whom I had the pleasure of interviewing) is so deserving of this: He managed to turn his story of a troubled childhood into one of the most readable and least sentimental books I've enjoyed this year. It all came together in a book that people were buzzing about all the way back at BookExpo America. And the buzz just continued to build all summer long. So now, in a week when a lot of people are talking about a certain other blockbuster hardcover bestseller (one far less deserving, if you ask me), I'm really happy for David and his wonderful book. (And if you haven't read it yet, now's the time!)
