Power Rangers Megaforce 3: Panic in the Parade

Papercutz recently made big news with their announcement that they’ll be publishing comic books starring the original cast of “Power Rangers.” But this exciting bit of news doesn’t have to take away from the fact that Papercutz is already publishing fun Power Rangers comics.

Their most recent, Power Rangers Megaforce 3, starts out by giving brief explanations on the characters for people not familiar with this particular Power Rangers cast. It also includes some photographs from the show. After this, the volume contains two stories: “Panic at the Parade” and “Game On!”

In the first story, Pink Ranger Emma is starting to worry that she’s too trusting of people and others are taking advantage of her. Meanwhile, the town is throwing an anniversary parade, and Vrak, a member of the alien royal family, is making plans for how he can use this event for an invasion to take over the planet. He uses an experimental creation to make himself look human and goes to speak with Emma.

It’s definitely an experimental creation, and Emma soon figures out it’s really Vrak in disguise. Vrak offers her a chance to explain to him why humanity shouldn’t be destroyed, but he isn’t really interested in her logic --- he’s keeping her away from the other Power Rangers so she won’t be there to help them when chaos breaks loose outside.

In the next story, Vrak makes another attempt to gain power. Blue Ranger Noah and Black Ranger Jake are attending a gaming convention, and Vrak is able to sneak right in because people just assume he’s in costume. The other Rangers are soon called in, and Vrak gets a sort of major video game set up --- where the object is to destroy the Power Rangers.

The comic is technically aimed for kids (and at 64 pages it’s a short, kid-friendly length) but it can also be fun for adults who have an inner kid in them. This is probably especially true for adults who watched the Power Rangers when they were little. (And it’s okay if you still do.)
